I took a trip to Alaska in the month of August 2025, it was amazing! I went to Sitka to visit the Raptor center to see the various types of eagles being cared for there especially the bald eagle. It's like a rehabilitation clinic for large wounded, sick or injured birds species to recover and then set free to roam in their natural habitat. The work that is done here with many of the birds of prey is extremely humane and important to their survival primarily, bald eagles. The ones that have permanent damage, can no longer survive in the wild on their own or cannot be released for other reasons that would be detrimental to their survival are given a permanent home in the Raptor center. I really enjoyed the tour of seeing the center and watching the many large birds being helped and treated h
Nice experience with birds at various stages of rehabilitation. Went here as part of a cruise package so not sure about the cost. Nice restrooms and gift shop. No snacks. The indoor training area had 6-7 birds getting ready to be released. Very educational.
Amazing learning about and getting up close to so many different raptors. I did not realize before that juvenile bald eagle looked more like golden eagle. They’re white head and tail feathers. Don’t come in until they are four or five years old. There’s an amazing crossbreed created through artificial insemination between a peregrine falcon and a hawk. She was used for hunting and because she is a one-of-a-kind in all the world. It is illegal to release her into the wild. So she came to the raptor center to live. They have a life-size eagle nest down on the ground and the salmon we’re running in the stream that is just down the path through the forest beyond the Eagles nest replica. That’s a beautiful walk. Don’t miss that. Loved this whole experience.
I strongly support this l9velycplace and their efforts to protect, rehabilitate and return injured birds & bears into the wild. We saw many breathtaking owls, raptors, eagles and bears at this well-designed facility. It was a favorite stop. There is also a theater for educational movies and a great gift shop where every purchase supports care for the injured creatures.
Nice little stop to see the different raptors that have been rescued. Well maintained facility and they seem very healthy. Brief little tour was very informative. We walked down to the stream and there was a TON of salmon. Very neat!
