Al-Van Humane Society Adoption & Community Education Center

I had been eyeing a particular cat for quite a while that I had first seen at a Chow Hound pet supply back in 2024 named Cosmo. Back then, the two of us connected instantly. At the time I was unfortunately unable to get him as I had two pets of my own. However, a few months later, I would split up with my girlfriend at the time and she, against my wishes, would take away the two cats we had. I was very emotional, having just lost my two cats, and I think the staff could tell when I went to visit Cosmo again, this time at the shelter directly. The staff was very warm and welcoming me and inviting me to visit Cosmo in the back. The two of us reconnected instantly, and it took everything I had not to start crying. My kids and I adopted 2 kittens from Al Van- what a great experience! The staff were so kind, welcoming, knowledgeable, and helpful! This is the first time we have adopted any animals, from anywhere, and I would recommend them to anyone who is wanting to adopt kittens, cats, puppies, dogs…. The animals all seemed very comfortable, well taken care of, and happy! My husband, children, and myself are so excited and happy about our 2 new additions to our family of 6 people, no prior animals. Our kittens are so incredibly cute, well behaved (mostly, they are kittens after all), kitty box trained, and so smart and playful!!! We are incredibly grateful to have had such a positive experience adopting kittens, and then acclimating ourselves to the kittens and kittens to us!

I found these two kittens abandoned in the middle of the road at 2am. I went back for them and one ran up to me. I was able to get the the other. I am working here from out of town amd had no resources to care for them. These wonderful ladies accepted them and I am very grateful. Thank you.

Very unprofessional dishonest. The director Sarah called while I was at Bible study telling me I was argumentative. Seriously knowing I had her on speaker unbalanced for sure. Directors should not embellish if they do it obvious why

I walked in and said “hey do you have an orange male kitten?” They said yes and the rest is history. It took an hour at most to leave with my fur ever pet (I was prepared with all my renter information and vet info). This baby “peanut avenue” became Ferguson and he’s been the best addition to my family. I will be forever grateful I came here. 10/10 get your babies at this place!
