I was visiting my mother from LA, Mom lives in Twain Harte, and while helping her clean her closet, my blue nose Amstaff Darla, got into a mouse bait box and chewed a significant corner by the time I realized that she was not chewing on her regular chew toy. Of course it was Friday evening, and all the vet clinics in the surrounding areas were closed until Monday. I called Acorn Hills and the wonderful staff talked me through the ingredients and steps to make Darla expel her stomach contents. After that, she seemed fine until she started to get some muscle spasms. We called Acorn again, but unfortunately the doctor on call was in a procedure, so we made the split decision to take Darla to a 24 hour emergency vet in Modesto. The team at Acorn Hills was so helpful and kind when my dog Gracie was showing signs of toxicity. They gave me advice over the phone and truly helped ease my mind. Their level of care and compassion is unmatched. I would highly recommend them and I will definitely be coming back :)

Our 17 yr. old cat Mason was in pain and about to pass away. They treated him with love and kindness. They helped him to pass away peacefully and wrapped him beautifully with bows. Thank you to the entire staff for your patience and love.

Dr. Alison Pillsbury showed incredible compassion and kindness when it was time to say goodbye to our beloved dog, Klaus. She treated him with such gentleness and respect, and guided us through one of the hardest moments of our lives with empathy and care. I lost my Vader on 4/2/25, Dr Pillsbury helped me fight hard, she tried her hardest and I felt that. Not just her care but the front staff absolutely hands down the best team. As of today I received a letter from UC DAVIS letting me know she made a donation in the name of VADER. My heart just smiled as I know I had him in the best care with the best people. I still struggle with his loss but I know that without a doubt we fought the good fight. Thank you Dr Pillsbury and staff for all your efforts and care.
